The economy is bad. Everything is uncertain. Scot's job is secure until June 30th at which point it could go either way. Everyone is cutting back & reassessing their priorities, me included. I'm grateful for the reassessment as it has made me realize I like just hanging at home with my family...which is free!
Today as I was driving I had a few thoughts cross my mind which I knew I wanted to get on paper {or blogged!}. Before I had Zack many of my ideas or inspiration would come while I was driving...it hasn't happened as often since the back seat is typically full of chatter.
Today my mind traveled back to the days when I was working at Cornerstone Homes. I worked there for about 6 or 7 years. All through college & then after I graduated & until I had Zack & then from home for a year.
As I look back that time was priceless. Over time I was able to work in a variety of capacities & thus gained an understanding to an entire industry. I was often asked to do tasks that required me to research out where to even start.
One of those tasks was to find, purchase, paint & transport a 48 foot semi truck trailer. This required researching where these were sold, then finding the best trailer at the best price, then finalizing the contract & securing the title. Then I had to figure out where & if there was a facility to have the trailer detailed & cleaned & then how to have the thing transported there! After that I had to find someone to paint the trailer with our logo & website & finally have it transported again to our construction site to act as a huge sign. I remember going to one of the truck lots to look at a specific trailer...the lot was in a bad part of town on some side dirt road & I had no idea what I was even looking for!!! I remember driving up in Scot's BMW & the look of surprise on the guy's face when a 22 year-old girl in jeans & stiletto boots got out to look at a used truck trailer. Priceless. Thankfully, he was super helpful & walked me through the process.
Sometimes in my life now I allow myself to believe that I can't accomplish such tasks. I allow myself to accept the excuse of being a mom is too much. Or I forget that I have the capacity to figure things out.
This week I want to focus more on my real estate license. The market is so low & it is the perfect time to start making some investments. I want to get myself re-educated & re-introduced on all things real estate. It truly is something I love & a part of me that I miss.
