I just finished watching the Mitt Romney speech regarding Religion in America. It is awesome & while I don't usually have too much to say politically...it is easy for me to be excited about Mitt Romney. My initial intrigue with him began because one of my friends from growing up married his youngest son. That is a strange thing when you realize your friend's father-in-law is running for President of the United States. It's just odd & makes it hit close to home. Anyway, she & I grew up together in Phoenix & her dad was the Bishop of the ward, while my dad was 1st Counselor. We did the typical sleepovers & high school football games...now she could be the first daughter-in-law? funny.
Anyway, back to my comments...so I just finished watching the speech & it made me feel all warm & fuzzy. I just love him! He speaks so eloquently & directly. I appreciate that he is upfront & honest in his beliefs, without any apologies for his religion. He pointed out that it is not a religion of convenience & that he would not be denouncing any portion of it and that he thought he'd be more respected for sticking to his guns, than distancing himself from it. He continued to say that if it costs him the Presidency, so be it. I love that...because in reality that is what it is all about...the little choices & sacrifices that bring us closer to the Lord.
Anyway, my dad told me about a McLaughlin Group show that made my skin crawl & my stomach churn. Essentially, a liberal commentator from MSNBC was on & denounced the Mormon religion as a cult that was founded by a criminal & rapist, Joseph Smith. It is difficult to even type it. He was so devilish in his comments. I understand that he does not need to agree with my faith & he has the right to think otherwise, I suppose I would much prefer it done in a calm, respectable fashion. I also think people like him are the downfall of America...his inability to tolerate & defend the freedom to those beliefs. So many paid a high price for us to have the freedom we enjoy.

I guess America hasn't come as far as I thought. I can only imagine how the early saints must have felt.
Tomorrow is Super Tuesday...as in voting day for most of us. Don't forget to get out and vote for your candidate. I already sent in my early ballot with Mitt's name checked. I so hope he is able to pull out key victories tomorrow in order to win the primaries. No candidate is perfect...even Mitt, but he is definitely my favorite & I think he has the best chances of beating the Democrats in November. He is well balanced in his policies & he has great experience...in both the political & private arenas, which could be huge for our sagging economy.
