Smile!

So the Z-Man has decided to grace us with smiles. His first "on command" smile happened Wednesay. At first, I thought it was just one of his typical spontaneous grins, but alas, I continuted to try to coax more out & out they came. As any mother will tell you...it was dang cute. Since then he has been a bit stingy with them...making me work extra hard to get them out, but heck...what else do I really have to do with my time? The smile has yet to be caught on film, but it is not for lack of trying...if he is camera shy, he definitely doesn't get that from me.

He (meaning Zack) and I have gotten ourselves into a nice little routine and even made it to the grocery store today. Ta-dow! And this wasn't just a pick up milk trip...this was the mega trip with a list and everything! So initially I put him in the in the front of the cart (in his car seat obviously) as I have seen other people do...however this was not going to work as I couldn't see over the cart. I figure it is bad enough that I look like I am 12...so there really is no need to drive the point home. Anyway, he ended up in the basket, which left me wondering where all my food was going to go...but I'll tell ya...I am amazed and the amount of things I was able to cram in around him. The guy behind me at the check out line must have thought I was Mary Poppins because I just kept pulling stuff out of my cart...and he thought he'd gotten in the short line.

Scot has been M.I.A the last couple of weeks...at the office. Last night, he got home at 11 pm...this after he had told me that he thought he'd be able to get home early, which these days is 7 or 8. Luckily, I wasn't left home watching The Office by myself (which was a re-run by the way...grr.) because I decided to go out to my parents & hang with my little brother while my mom is out of town. Hopefully, Scot's schedule slows down soon...I miss having him around. But ultimately every family has to pay their dues, right? And in reality, we have it so great that I really can't complain, so I won't. I think it is a great blessing that Zack started sleeping better when Scot's schedule got so hectic. At least, Scot doesn't have to deal with a crazy (I use this term loosely) wife and screaming kiddo on top of it, right? We'll just take lots of pictures when Scot is home, having him change outfits, etc so later on Zack will think he was around all the time. Okay, I am really not going to do that...it was a joke.
