There & Back...that Quick

We made a quick weekend trip to San Diego for Dane's Eagle Court of Honor. It was fast, furious & fun...all wrapped up into one, if that is possible. Here are the hi-lights & low-lights...

1 - Upon our arrival we learned that Zack's car seat was on a different plane, in a different city. Lovely, right? This was one of the furious parts of the trip. Here's an idea...it's a car seat people, make sure it gets on the right plane! So after receiving a "loaner" car seat from who-knows-where & me biting the guy's head off when he told me, "not to worry, it's totally safe," we were on our way. Another note...if you are a 20-year-old male, do NOT tell a mother not to worry about putting her child in some random car seat you magically pull from some out of sight back room.
2 - Much to my displeasure (okay not really, but kind of) Zack was enthralled with Nala...his grandparents cat...almost as much as Scot was. As much as I really don't like cats (after reading this, Scot will come home tonight & try to convince me AGAIN how great cats are...) it was fun to see Zack whip his head around trying to keep track of her. I'm glad he can play with Nala at his grandparents anytime!

3 - The Holiday...watched this Saturday night...it is cute & funny. Even Scot sat through it, so if you are looking for a good rental, try this one.

4 - Lunch & Shopping...Can I just say I love lunching & shopping in Encinitas? It is just great. Sitting on the patio is ALWAYS an option & I love strolling through outdoor malls. They are the best, especially in Encinitas, because green plants actually flourish there & let's be honest, they are just build cooler things there than here.

5 - Sick-o...that would be Zack. He's having his first bout with the runs...just what you wanted to hear, right? Sorry, I will keep all other gross details to myself. Other than changing the actual diaper, it wasn't even a problem...he was happy-go-lucky as usual and life went on. He is drinking lots of water & we are hoping his bout is over soon!

6 - Eagle Scout...Dane was awarded his Eagle Scout & while I spent the majority of the time in the hall I did catch the slideshows, which really is the hi-light & I grabbed a brownie after as well. Way to go Dane! We are proud of you! Isn't he so cute?

7 - Scot's Birthday...yes we celebrated this as well (just one week early). I told you this was a fast-paced crazy trip! We barbecued, opened presents & Zack played on the lawn. Can I just say I LOVE the weather...just love it. Especially towards the end of our summer here...I mean really, cool off already! And a Happy Birthday shout-out to the original Scoobs!

8 - Barely Made the Plane...this would be on the return. I got the last boarding pass, which left Scot without one. Huh? You might ask. They (of course) over-booked the flight & since we pre-board we didn't check in earlier...trust me that won't be happening again. After begging & pleading (as in literally making my own announcements & using Zack as my pawn to try to convince someone, anyone to give up their ticket) Scot finally made it on the plane due to a NO-SHOW! YEAH!

On to Chicago next weekend to visit friends & spend some time without Z...and I don't say that shouting for joy. I have mixed feelings about leaving the little guy behind. Not sad enough to change my mind or ruin my trip, but sad enough to...well make me feel sad about it!!! We are in wash & reload mode around here!!!

California Lovin'

This past weekend we made it over to Encinitas to visit Scot's family & attend a friend's wedding. Our trip started Thursday night with our flight delayed over an HOUR! So here we are chillin in the airport. Lovely. I have to say Zack was a superstar given the circumstances.

It was a whirlwind of a weekend (actually it has been a whirlwind of a month), but there was plenty of afternoon naps sprinkled in to make it just right!

Friday was Bones' wedding (yes, his name is actually Jeremy Bones & I can't call him anything but Bones!). He and Scot spent plenty of their college days together...with Scot living with his fam & then Bones living with us last year. He's like part of the fam & we always enjoy hanging out with him & visiting with his family. They are always good for some laughs. The best thing about Bones is that he can totally girl talk. I love it! We love his new wife Camille & let me just say she looked so beautiful throughout their sealing! Way to go Bones! We had tons of fun at both the wedding (thanks to grammy for watching Z) and the reception. It was fun to catch up with all the Cali folk and Scot was jealous of their beach lives & probably a bit disappointed he married and AZ girl (but just think...Bones married an Idaho girl!!). That is Scot's consolation...

Bones, Camille and friends from Utah the Arbuckles (I'd link you to their blog, but they don't update it!)

Zack LOVED dancing at the reception...although you can't tell from this picture. He was a party animal and hung until the bitter end to see the happy couple off!

Saturday was spent doing all the "standard" things...Scot paddling out with friends in the early a.m. while me & Z still slept, me meeting him & the Humberstones at Pipes for breakfast. An afternoon beach trip with Z (his first one!), a stop at Hansen's Surf Shop and then some shopping in the evening! That about sums up every trip home...gotta love it.

He had his eyes closed in every picture, so I suppose this one will have to do. At least he was enjoying himself. I was just trying to keep him from getting sand in his eyes. Don't mind the mouth so much, but did not want to have to deal with an eye problem...we've already tackled 2 blocked tear ducts and pink eye.

Beach Toes!

Here is Zack sporting his "Little Shredder" tee from James & Leah, isn't it cute? They are going to be starting this business here soon that will have skate apparel for infants & kids and I suppose Zack is part of their marketing plan! :) We love the tee & will keep you all posted on when their website goes live. I can't wait!

The other great thing that happened on this trip...we found some other bloggers! Yeah...so glad to know that I am not the only one filling my time this way! Check out Brittany & Joe as well as Niccole & Timmy (I am too tired to actually link them...but they are posted on the sidebar).
