They Grow Up Too Fast!

today zack graduated into a "big boy" bed! while i am excited to check this "to do" off the list...i tucked him in & then walked out & cried. it was soo sad! maybe it is the pregnancy hormones, but man, i hate to see him grow up.

he was all jazzed up about sleeping in his "big boy" bed & did fabulous with his nap in it this afternoon. tonight, with it being much darker in there, he showed some slight tentativeness. it was as if he was looking up at me saying, "mom, is this for real? are you really leaving me in here?" aw man, i hate those looks {but really love them all the same}.

lately he's turned into this little man. although he's always looked like a little man with that mop of hair, now he is acting like one. he talks nonstop & i can actually carry on decent conversations with him. he will respond to anyone that speaks to him {the mailman, the grocery clerk} & they always seemed surprised at his quick & accurate responses. i must admit, i'm usually surprised to.

just today on our way to the park he was riding his razor & had to stop in front of a house that was getting their landscaping installed. it was the same company that did ours & so i said hi to the supervisor guy & asked, "how's it going?" without skipping a bit zack looks over to him & says hi {along with a casual wave of his hand} & asks "how's it going?" and then replies back to his response. both the supervisor & i just looked at each other & laughed, like, "is this kid for real?"

he is also starting to use his imagination. the other day he was a kitty on the way to the library. meowing a squeaking meow & giggling all the way there.

i know i'm biased, but i have to say he is one cute kid & he has me wishing i could just bottle him up right now...he's my little pocket friend. he is a social butterfly at the park, making friends easy & keeping up with the big kids {well at least trying really hard to!}. he'll laugh before he cries & is generally so happy.

mind you there are times {after i've heard "mom" for the zillionth time in the car} he can push me over the edge, all in all for being a 2 year old, he is not the least bit difficult.

he is growing up & while it makes me shed a tear or two, i'm glad he's doing it with grace & some excitement.

I echo your sentiments and must add that the grace and excitement comes from his mama. and a little from his dad... you two are doing the greatest thing a parent can do in enjoying these moments instead of wishing them away. may we all do that a little more!

He will do great in his big boy bed! He is adorable and I loved your last post about wanting to be a kid again....I secretly wish I would have no worries again and just go out in my scivies (sp?) and play in the sprinklers! It looks like so much fun! I will one of these days when it gets too hot!
