Our typical day went something like this...wake up (for the morning that is...I am trying to block out the mulitple times Zack decided he needed to be awake in the middle of the night), and head down the boardwalk with everyone for donuts. Since we failed to get the bike trailer in time (I'll give Scot a break on this one...we have had one heck of a month) I was stuck rollerblading Zack down in his stroller. Feel free to call me Napolean any time, so long as you can give me a pull into town! After we'd adequately stuffed our faces we'd head back home and then done to the beach. Zack would take a little nappy doodle while I held him and flipped through some magazines, then wake up, play in the waves some and head in for lunch. All the babies would go down for afternoon naps and one adult would as well (so that they could listen for the kiddos). The rest of us would mosey back out to the beach and either fall asleep in the sand, read, or paddle out for some dueling dragons.
The weather was a bit cooler this year & the surf was low all day every day, hence the game dueling dragons was born. Essentially the goal is to be king of the wave...meaning you must catch it, ride it and battle others off it. Needless to say, Scot always won because he is the best body boarder (I guess that is what happens when you grow up on the beach) and I didn't really like playing with him! Let it be known that I realize that is a total "touristy" game to play and Scot (being a die hard "local") was difficult to coerce into playing. Anyway, I think fun was had by all & when the surf is low you sometimes need to produce your own fun!
all the girls (kate, maddie, riley & emma) eating their coldstone
Jane's Corndogs for lunch on the newport pier...my annual corn dog...they are actually delish!
a morning doodle (that would be a nap) on the beach
a ride on the carousel...zack tried to eat the pole...i suppose anything will do when you are teething
playing in the sand with dad
kate buried in the sand
chillin with my mom

It just ain't right for one family to take such beautiful pictures. What a fun tradition.
finally! I have been waiting impatiently for you to get back and report! I'm glad it was a great trip, although I must admit my disappointment in the partaking of the corndog- ick! See you Saturday for some REAL food, I hope!

Hey girl-
seems like forever since we've chatted. Your little guy is getting so big, I love the pics! I'll give you a call sometime so we can chat.
What a fun vacation! I'm missing not being able to fit in a Cali trip this summer. We are in hot and humid Texas.
