Grateful...just grateful

To try to get into the fall spirit in the midst of 90 degree heat we visited the local pumpkin patch on Saturday...mind you I was in flip flops & a tee & sweating. Gotta love fall, right? Okay, actually I do. Zack absolutely LOVED it! I finally felt at "home" in the pumpkin patch because I had a child...in years past I am sure I looked a bit goofy in my enthusiasm.

Anyway, onto the more serious note of my post...is that even possible for me, I am not certain! Last night, was my Gourmet Group in Phoenix. It was so fun to see all my friends on the other side of town. They are so fun & I just love our little group. There are about 12 girls & we all have such different backgrounds & perspectives, but always have a blast eating, chatting & laughing. Last night was definitely no exception.
As I was driving home late by myself, I got to thinking, how did I get to this point in my life? Has this ever happened to you where you just kind of stop & look around & realize that you're life really couldn't be any better? After talking with these girls I always feel more energized & grateful. It is so easy for me to draw on their strength & positive attitudes.

Last night, we were all sharing funny stories from growing up...you know the ones on your family road trip & the car breaks down, or is Scot's family case, you hit a sheep (yes, a sheep). What I think is so great is that we all have them. Those silly things that happen as a young family. I was telling my dad how everyone was laughing particularly hard at one of our misfortunes & he said, "you know, it's for those ones you do the family road trip." Meaning it is the ones that go wrong that are the most memorable & make you stronger as a family. He's right & I am glad that life doesn't need to be perfect. It is the warts that make it all worthwhile.
