Newport Love.

Another year has come & gone & I hate to say that we are home from our annual Newport trip. It is my favorite week of the year & this year was no exception...even with a 10 week old babes in tow.

We soaked up the sun. Ate too many donuts. Busted out the rollerblades {yes you read that correctly...rollerblades}. Drank Diet Coke. Ate some more donuts & stayed up too late most nights.

The waves were absolutely dismal this year. I mean it was completely flat all day, every day...which was great for letting Scoobs get out in the water. Scot was more than happy to give him some rides, until Scoobs completely biffed it & was no longer interested in playing with dad on his board. I have to say I am happy the waves were flat this year seeing as my beach time was significantly shorter & more complicated than most years thanks to a certain little sugar bean.But she did make her appearance...all dolled up for her um, 30 minutes on the beach before she was ready to eat, have a diaper change, go to sleep, cry her guts out or whatever other reason she could drum up to pull me from the sand.
This little dude was ready to play all day everyday though & I feel like I hardly saw him all week. With all his cousins to play with he was thoroughly entertained & pooped by the time his afternoon naps came along...even asking to go to sleep. gasp.
Once the afternoon rolled around & all the little littles were fast asleep there was some time for this. This one wave was the only decent one...good thing we all made it on it for our annual game of Dueling Dragons, the rules of which are: you catch the wave...you battle others off of it...you look like a dork.
Oh & there was also some of this...Kev showing his dominance over me. I think this happens every year & every year it gets worse. We also had ourselves some beachside entertainment in the form of these two:
My mom & her sister. After, um 7 years, of never getting in the water they, first, took themselves to Jack's for some cute rash guards {first things first, I suppose} & then they showed their stuff on the waves...I know, I know, it looks like they are riding the sand more than the waves, but whatev at least they got more than their toes wet this year!
These 3 taught Scoobs some awesome one-liners that he used all week & has continued to use at the most opportune moments. Now included in his vocabulary: "I'll give you a roundhouse kick to the face." "Get that corn outta my face." and "I'm a baller." Thank you Kevin, Beau & McCall...I can't wait til he busts them out in nursery.

Every morning we took ourselves down to the donut shop on the peir. A favorite morning activity. We all normally ride bikes, however this year, I was donning my rollerblades & jogging stroller. The SissyLu can't hold her head up yet & frankly, I didn't want to miss out on the fun of shoving my face full of donuts every morning. At least I worked it off...
and polished up on my rollerblading skills. I'm not certain why Kev was donning rollerblades other than to enhance the coolness of his tye-dyed tank, but either way, we were good...reeeeally good. I was having flashbacks of 6th grade skate nights at the roller rink...you know, the couples skate where one would skate forward & the other back...yeah, we had that move down too.

By the end of the trip we were all tired & dreading the drive home to the heat! Our NINE hour drive home was particiularly lovely with about 1 million stops along the way. While our first stop was at the outlets, our last was on the side of the road in 115 degree heat with my puking my guts up. Oh how I loved my life at that moment. One word: glamorous.

Regardless, we are already looking forward to next year {it will be so much better with a 1-year old as opposed to a newborn!}

Thanks mom & dad for such a fun trip!!! It is our favorite week of the year!

You were sick on the way home??? I didn't know. Are you pregnant? Are you sure you won't have a newborn next year at Newport?

Okay, kidding. Ryan and I are dying at Shelley's pics of dueling dragon and the roller rink. You guys are dorks. Seriously you have some great pictures, especially for having a newborn in tow. I was pretty disappointed to realize that my pics don't really represent the fun week. . . oh, well, next year.

So jealous right now....I was telling my hubs that I should have spent a week in Utah and then a week in Newport......love that place! I think we are going to plan a trip to the beach here soon one of these days! I now cannot go a summer without heading to Cali!

Man, everyone and their dog has been to the beach this summer! Although I have had some nice getaway time, but it wasn't the beach. Hopefully next year I will get there! Glad you had fun. (Except for getting sick, that's no fun)
