14 years ago today K-Dizzle was born! Oh what a happy day it was. Being 11 years old when he was born, I remember it so clearly...in fact I think the Suns were playing the Spurs in the playoffs. Either them or Houston...I remember watching the games from mom's hospital room. Anyway, I was so excited to have a new baby brother & no longer be the "youngest."
I remember mom & Grandpa Schaar working tirelessly on his sailboat nursery...painting & wallpapering. Kevin, you loved playing with Grandpa when you were little. You went through a bit of a cowboy phase & even had chaps & a vest that you wore daily. You & Grandpa used to have "draws" where you'd stand back to back, take 3 paces & then draw & shoot your cowboy guns at each other. I can still hear him shouting, "DRAW!" and then you'd laugh & laugh. Grandpa loved his westerns & you were his favorite cowboy!
I think Kevin & I have always shared a special bond...there were many years when it was just me & Kevin at home together & I have always felt a strong responsibility for him. Since he is so much younger than all of his siblings I always felt like I needed to make sure he had some sort of strong sibling relationship. So we've shared many wrestling matches, sleepovers on Christmas Eve, playing in the rain & racing to open the door...just for the sake of it. I never wanted him to miss out on those fun sibling games that everyone grows up doing.
Now he is a teenager...no longer a little boy and sometimes that is hard to see...but it is oh so fun to see him grow & mature...and the wrestling matches have only gotten more intense. He is one of the funniest people I know & to this day I love to just hang with him & play Dance Dance Revolution!I look forward to the day when Zack is a bit older & he can look to Kevin for advice & guidance because I am sure he will think Kevin is much cooler than Scot & I are!
So Kev-o...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We love you & are so glad you are a part our the Boyer clan!!!
