7 down, 4 to go

Now that my blog is private, I suppose I can share this with you. Scot has been out of town for 7 days now & yes, I STILL have 4 to go. I am exhausted & grateful all at the same time. Exhausted is for obvious reasons & if you can't figure it out, go ask your mom...I'm sure she can clue you in to how exhausting a 1-year-old can be (and yes, he's almost ONE!). But I digress...I am grateful because I know Scot will be home & it will all be over soon enough. I am grateful that when he comes home from work he is so happy to see Zack & I. I am grateful that he bathes & puts Zack to bed EVERY night. I never realized how important that 45 min - hour was. We are a great team. He takes Zack after dinner & gets him all clean & ready for bed while I clean up dinner & Zack's toys from the day. After bath we play all together for a bit, say prayers & Zack goes to bed. It is hard to do all that on your own. Now dinner usually doesn't get cleaned up until after Zack's in bed...which is the last thing I want to do. And the toys...well they eventually make their way to their spots, but not always. And sometimes...the bath just doesn't happen when dad's gone! Scot will be so disappointed to learn that last tidbit...they both love bath time. I however, find myself lacking the energy by that time most nights.

So you may be asking where in heaven's name is Scot? He is currently spending the weekend in Barcelona, Spain. Rough, right? He has been working in Amsterdam & will head back there next week, but over the weekend he decided to go with a co-worker to Barcelona. I guess it is close to Amsterdam & absolutely gorgeous. He was really excited to tell me all about it tonight, but to be honest I didn't want to hear one thing about it! I told him I'd love all the details when he's home, but please don't put me through that tonight...it makes me miss him too much & I find it better if I just don't go down that path. Remember...I still have 4 days to go.

Okay this is sounding a bit depressing now...we really are doing just fine. In all reality, how bad can it be? We live with my parents! That really is my saving grace. Can you imagine what the families of soldiers must go through? I have a whole new respect for them & really have nothing to complain about.

So a few hi-lights since Scot's been gone...Zack has learned to dance when he hears music. It is great. He's as good a dancer as me. Hmm...I wonder where he gets his moves from! He also says, "nana" which is my mom...this is very concerning to Scot as Zack refuses to say "dada"...although he has said it in the past, go figure. Zack also pooped in the potty...which was hilarious & is a story of it's own...here's a quick snapshot: He hadn't gone all day when I went to give him his evening bath, I was terrified it might happen in the tub & knew I did not have the energy for that...so I sat him on the toilet before going into the tub & he went. A great blessing for me that day...weird, poop is now a blessing.

you will survive! but I know exactly what you mean about the evening routine not going just right when dad isn't home. some nights I know they need baths, but it just isn't going to happen and once the kids are in bed and I walk downstairs and the kitchen is still a mess.. well, that is exactly what my magic wand would be used for! I swear I ordered that thing ages ago and it still hasn't come... sure would come in handy sometimes!! scot was telling denten all about his upcoming trip to barcelona last week- I hope it's all he dreamed about and that you get your turn sometime soon!

Wow, go Zack for the poop in the potty! He's advancing Ava and she is 3! That is pathetic! I don't know what I would do if Briant was gone that long. Some days I go crazy and just can't wait for him to relieve me! Thank goodness you do live with your parents. You need to make Kevin take charge and help you out with either the dishes or the bath! Hey, your the older sis, you can boss him around! J/K

Oh, Amy! I know how you feel with your husband gone! Although typically Jeff's business trips are only a few days long--sometimes a whole week...

I love watching Jeff get the kids ready for bed. He has been in charge of bath time ever since Sam was a little baby (over 6 1/2 years ago!). Husbands are the best :)
