Flashback Friday - Expecting

I don't have access to my computer or scanner right now, so I got to wondering what I was going to do for my "flashback friday." I decided to check out my parent's old PC & boy were there some gems in their picture folder...most I would not be willing to post! I clicked through the months & found these! I was hesitant to post them in fear that people might think this is a current announcement...let me assure you it is not. It was almost exactly 2 years ago that we announced I was preggo with Zack. I can't believe that was 2 years ago!!! Man. That is just crazy.

We found out I was pregnant on the Saturday before Father's Day in June. I remember going out in the garage to tell Scot the news. I didn't bother to even tell him I was taking the test. I know, probably rude, but that is just how I roll. I like privacy. Anywho...the next day (Father's Day) my family all came over for dinner at our house, which you think would be a perfect time to announce the pregnancy. But nope, we kept our lips shut! That is kind of funny to me now, but I remember just wanting to keep it quiet for a bit. We decided to wait until Newport -- we could tell both families in person & close enough to the same time. We thought that would be perfect.

I had a shirt made that said I was expecting & to check back in Feburary. Zack's original due date was on Valentine's Day. I knew we'd never make it until then, but I remembering thinking that was a perfect due date. He instead was born in January. My mom was the first to see the shirt -- she was pretty happy, as most Nanas are, right? We always do some sort of family pictures on the beach while we are in Newport & my mom insisted I bring the shirt along so we could photograph it. I, of course, obliged.

We didn't tell anyone besides our family for quite some time. I swore them all the secrecy. I was working at Cornerstone Homes & didn't want them to know for a bit. I really liked my job & was being offered some great opportunities...I didn't want my pregnancy to change that. We didn't get to keep it a secret for as long as we'd like though.

My mom went to see one of her friends about a week after we had gotten back from Newport. Upon answering the door she congratulated my mom on my pregnancy. My mom was shocked she knew. My mom asked how she heard & she said her son, an ex-boyfriend of mine, had told her. She asked how he heard (because I obviously don't talk or see him frequently) & supposedly the teacher I had student taught for (who knew him), but that I hadn't talked to in a year had told him. What??? Very weird. Scot asked if I was sure the kid was his...haha, very funny!

With that, I knew word would get out & I'd better tell my bosses before they found out at church. They were all in a casual meeting together. I figured out a way to interrupt. Conversation turned to me & my midget size -- they always teased me about this. One of them asked my how much I really weighed & I responded..."Well, I went to the doctor this week & I'm 3 months pregnant & weigh x amount...not bad, huh?" I still remember his jaw dropping!!! Soo, funny. They all wanted to be excited for me, but I could see the writing on their faces as in...hmm, so now what do we do with you? haha. They were great though & I enjoyed working there until I had Z & then from home for about a year. Love those guys!!

I remember those pictures on your blog. I think your blog was the first one I ever saw, and now it seems like everyone has one.
