Obsessed.

A few things we are obsessed with...For about a month now, Zack has been OBSESSED with the vacuum. At the beginning of this obsession he would have a complete meltdown when the vacuum had to be put away. You know the meltdowns where they are squirreling around on the floor inconsolable? Yes, they were of that variety. It got to the point where I didn't even want to get it out due to the fit that was inevitable on the other end. However, he was relentless about playing with it constantly. I have to say it is quite cute when he comes to find you and peers up asking, "Vacuum?" And when you say yes & follow him to the closet man, he is on cloud nine! Giddy with excitement! He even knows to say please to further his cause. How can I tell him no? He knows where every vacuum in the house is & has even found the vacuum at my sisters, both sis-laws & our neighbors! I tell you, he is relentless! He knows how to work the vacuum he is playing with in the picture. He'll pull out the cord for you to plug in, turn it on & will actually get to work. Maybe this obsession ain't so bad?

PS - His fits have since minimized when it has to get put away...I supposed he's figured out we'll let him play with it again.
My new obsession are these babies... I spotted them about a month ago, but couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for shoes he didn't "need." So I passed them by, but showed anyone who'd look online & tried to find them for less expensive...so it would be easier to rationalize the purchase! A month passed & Zack out grew his $5 crocs from Wal-Mart (which by the way were the BEST shoes...lame, but true) & his brown church sandals. Now he "needed" new shoes. Still I couldn't convince myself to pay the $30...surprising I know. I think Scot would have paid it. Off I go to my all-time fave store...Nordstrom Rack. I'd never bought shoes for Z there, but had seen cute Vans there in the past & hoped they'd have something. To my complete & utter surprise they had the exact shoes I'd been dreaming about, for the bargain price of $15. And instead of finding them in every size but his, I only found them in his size (I'm dumb enough that I looked to see). Maybe this sounds silly & I am taking this too far, but to me, this is a simple answer to a prayer that I didn't even bother to pray. I knew I didn't "need" the shoes, but deep down I really wanted them. bad. Sometimes I think Heavenly Father does things like this just to say, "I'm thinking about you."

I'm happy to say, Z loves his new shoes...he seriously wants to wear them all the time. And if you look close on the picture, you'll see the paisley is made of little skulls. The perfect mix of punk & preppy. Love them!

Okay, they have these at TJ Maxx (the Polo version) and I have wanted to get them for Dylan everytime! BUT, due to my child's crazy fat feet, size 7 I will add, I have not been able to get them since they are a pain to put on!!! I have been so bummed. I did get him the most adorable reef sandals. They are adorable and Zack is so stinkin' cute! Love it!

Praise and encouragement. You may be able to sustain that love of the vacuum through about 12 years old. Eventually, he will do a good job, not just play with it. As for the shoes, I love your comment about Heavenly Father letting us know he is thinking about us. Thanks.
