Youth Conference

Scot & I just got back from Youth Conference yesterday & boy are we tired! I thought our youth would be to our favor, which it probably was, but man, those kids still wore me out! We left Friday at 4 to head up to Camp Lomia. Saturday morning we did a service project which was Kevin's Eagle Project as well, played some team building games, ate lunch, hung out & headed home about 2 o'clock. Just in time to get home, shower & then be disappointed by the Suns. Oh well...we had a blast & here are the hi-lights, low-lights & overall observations of our trip.

-60 youth ages 14 & up is an impressive sight.
-Boys will always be boys...by the end of the night there were 3 fires going as well as several dares to jump over or walk across the fire.
-Matt noticed Stephanie was cold by the fire, he gave her his coat (aww...to be 16 again)
-Michelle commanded all the attention from the boys her age (this was classic)
-Trying to keep boys in their cabins & girls in theirs while they are texting each other is about impossible. I think the YM leaders gave up & hosted some of the girls at their fire...where at least they could chaperone
-Nacho Libre masks are great scare tools
-Bear noises really scare 14 year old girls
-Camp Lomia's beds are just as squeaking as I remember as a youth
-The Tanners are the best cooks & you should always have them be in charge of food.
-Brad needed water dumped on his head while laying sod...Stephanie was more than happy to oblige
-The youth in the ward are overall great kids
-Building a boat & having to race it brings out the best in everyone. Our final race ended up being the contractors vs. the attorneys...oddly enough, the attorneys won, after Matt negotiated over a technicality of course -Matt thought his Suns fanship ran deeper than mine...I had to set him straight, but was impressed by his Raja Bell background on his phone. Double props for that one.
-Scot spent the night in Kevin's cabin where he had to track down boys sneaking out & remind them not to shoot their air-soft guns in the cabin
-Meanwhile my girls had group scripture study & chatted about how excited they were to go into high school next year...ahh, love girls!
