Babysitting

This weekend finds me (and Scot too) babysitting a family in my parent's ward. I used to watch these kiddos all the time in high school. They have 5 kids & I remember bathing the youngest in the kitchen sink when he was a baby! Now they are all grown up. The youngest is 9 & going to baseball practice & doorbell ditching their neighbors on Friday night. The oldest is away at her first year of college! It is crazy how quickly time flies!

Zack has been loving being over here with all the kids. They have a 12 year old daughter & she & all her friends in the neighborhood have been showering Zack with all sorts of attention.

A few things I have learned from this experience...

1 - Having a lot of kids in the house is a lot of fun. Dinner is crazy & there is always a friend (or 4) and funny conversations going on.

2 - Family scripture study is much more enjoyable with older kids. I'm sure my own kids will be rolling their eyes, but these ones didn't (or ate least not in my direction!) Zack actually sat at the table, folded his arms & wasn't a complete distraction...he loves trying to be one of the big kids. It was a great way to start my morning.

3 - Weekend nights are late nights. Its been a long time since I had such a late night that didn't include a crying baby. Since we slept Zack at home (my parent's) I actually had a very relaxing, enjoyable evening!

4 - Saturday mornings are late mornings -- again, thankfully Zack slept at my parent's in is own bed at home, so I got to sleep in too! Thanks Scot for getting up with him at the crack o' dawn this morning!

Of all the things I miss about family life, family scripture study is at the to of the list.
