Confidence Booster

Is it just me or can a new shirt, pants or entire outfit give you a huge confidence boost & basically a whole new outlook on life? I don't know what it is but slipping on a brand new something revitalizes me & makes me feel like a million bucks!

Once upon a time (before wedding bells & a child), I indulged myself on a regular basis. Regular as in once week...at least. I lived at home while I went to college (wait, I still live at home with a husband and kid...), had a good job & thus always had some spending money. It didn't always have to be something grandiose...a new basic tee, some cute summer flip flops, the perfect accessory. But other times it was, what I would now consider grandiose...as in the latest fall pants & the perfect top to go with those latest fall pants (usually of the dry clean only variety) from Ann Taylor (my one true love in life...) and then I'd skip over to Nordstom, kid free & no schedule but my own to find the perfect shoe (I'm a size 5 shoe...try finding it somewhere other than Nordys). I would look at the sale racks, of course, but I wasn't limited to the sale rack. Sigh. Those were the days! Oddly enough, at the time, I knew those were the days. My sister had just gotten married & I realized my fortunate financial freedom (ie, no husband to answer to) so in essence...I stocked up.

These days, (okay, who am I kidding, like I have it bad) my supply is running low! I am stoked with a new tee from Target...and even better if it came from the sale rack! And buying something that is dry clean only? Please! Not an option. In fact, I don't even bother to peruse Ann Taylor anymore...Ann Taylor Loft, well, of course I get in there occasionally.

So tonight finds me wanting a new top. This one in particular...
I already have the perfect jean & shoes to go along with it. I've looked at the calendar & realize I have a few things coming up that in my opinion warrant a new top...it would make me feel oh so much better to show up in something new. I don't know...I walk a little taller, speak a bit more confidently. Scot laughs at me & tells me I definitely don't have a confidence problem. I tell him it's because I've always had the perfect outfit

So is it just me?

I completely agree Amy... there is just something special about a new piece in the wardrobe-even when your husband doesn't understand why the other clothes in your closet won't do the trick! :)

No, it's not just you. I remember once my Mom came to visit me and I was all down in the dumps and she said, "what you need is a new outfit." I reluctantly went shopping with her and bought the cutest skirt and blouse, I literally wore it out.

I totally do and did the same thing. When I was in college, my parents pretty much paid for everything and I worked part time so I had a little bit of extra spending money. Now I am at every sale rack you can find and when I do find something that I love for a great deal I think I wear it a few times in a week (if on that particular day no one saw it on me, yes I will wear it again.) Only because it is a confidence booster and something new just definitely makes you feel better!!

That top is cute--are there other colors????? I'm so in need as well. Between pregnancies and buying for kids my wardrobe gets last priority. There's nothing wrong with kicking it to the front of the line every once in a while (and you can tell Scot I said that!)
