I just finished watching President Hinckley's funeral. What a wonderful & inspired life he has led. I have been thinking a lot of President Hinckley & what it is about him that we all love & what his legacy is in my own life. During church today several shared personal stories & anecdotes with interactions they've had with President Hinckley. I have never personally met him & was thinking about the impact he's had on my life in light of that. I've decided that his influence has been immeasurable. So many of the blessings I enjoy are as a result of his guiding leadership. I love President Hinckley. There is a selfish part of me that hoped he'd always be on earth. There is a part of me that is sad my children will never know him like I do. I could go on & on. One thing I am so grateful for & one thing that I naturally tie to President Hinckley is the Nauvoo Temple.
I lived in Nauvoo for 4 months, just prior to the temple being dedicated. I was able to spend precious moments cleaning & working on the temple, participating in the "dry run" Open House. It was a wonderful time in my life. Today when I saw the pictures of President Hinckley in front of this temple, I was forever grateful for his inspiration in rebuilding this building. My 4th great grandfathers, Brigham Young & Parley P. Pratt, worked on the original & it was a privilege to spend a small token of time coming to know them & strengthening my own testimony of this great work.I know that President Hinckley was a prophet of God. How grateful I am to have heard his voice so often.
