In what may be deemed the most unexpected trade this season the Suns are likely to ship of All-Star forward & career Sun, Shawn Marion & Markus Banks...you know the point guard that plays trash minutes for Shaq...the big man.
Thoughts? Feelings? I'll tell you this - Scot & I went to the San Antonio game with my parents this week & I was stoked to be there. I had my Nash tee on & was ready for some serious action. Do you know what I got? I got the Suns with 50-something points at the end of the 3rd & the Spurs were lacking their starting point guard Mr. Eva Longoria. The Spurs didn't even play Robert Horry (the punk), so I even missed out on some loud booing. And to top it off...Scot barely missed a shirt in t-shirt time (the girl sitting next to him who didn't even stand up got it.) Needless to say, I was a bit miffed. I told Scot I would not be watching any more games this week as the Suns needed to win back my "fanship." Oddly, no one from the Suns offices has called to apologize or even send flowers.
Granted the Suns hold the best record in the West but does anyone else feel like they are falling just a bit flat? I feel like they are still playing like it is the first week of the season. Grant Hill has been a nice addition, now that he's got his legs under him, but he's still not enough for the Suns to win the championship...especially in light of the Lakers trade for Paul Gasol...man, that bites! After the Spurs game & then hearing of the Lakers trade, I was ready to hang up my championship dreams. It really was not possible. Until now...maybe.
Maybe...if Shaq can be healthy for the playoffs. That is really when we need him. Wouldn't you love a Suns/Lakers series again with Shaq vs. Kobe...oh, the thought is thrilling!
Maybe...if Diaw can hit a stinkin shot. There was a time, if you dig back through 2 seasons of crap & remember that Diaw was awesome. We all loved him when Stat was out for the whole year he totally stepped up. Hopefully, he can fit in nicely where Marion was.
Maybe...if Nash can involve Shaq in the offense. I have no idea how Shaq will keep up with the Suns, but I do know that EVERY player has their best seasons alongside Nash.
Maybe...if Stat can shine as a power forward...this I think will alleviate some of our current frustrations with his defense. I suppose I should cut the guy some slack when he's guarding guys like Duncan when he isn't a "true" center.
One thing I can say, is I am glad the Suns are doing something to try & increase their chances at winning a championship. Shaq's won 4 other times & I think he may be our shot this year...at least I will be watching the games again!
Go Suns!

I was skeptical about this little trade at first, but I'm coming around. Marion wanted out at the beginning of the season anyway and has put up his worst numbers since his rookie year- Perhaps Shaq can help us get there this year... and I agree- Stat can go back to playing where he plays best. I say, bring it on Kobe!
only thing i can say is....i'm so sick of the nba. go march madness!!!
